A new study (Mozaffari-Khosravi et al., 2014) has shown the benefits of ginger in controlling blood sugar in diabetes; the study of 88 diabetic patients showed, amongst other measurements, a blood sugar reduction of 10.5% in the treatment group when 3g of ginger powder was taken daily for 8 weeks; blood sugar in the control group increased by 21%, making the effect of the ginger even more impressive. As part of a more complex blood-sugar balancing approach ginger may therefore make a useful contribution.
